The Delphian Jazz Orchestra performs music that stretches outside of the typical parameters of a traditional big band. The music drastically morphs styles that fall anywhere from the influences of Ellington and Monk to Stravinsky and Frank Zappa. Hoping to free itself from the confines of formal structure, The Delphian Jazz Orchestra expresses a full range of emotion and thought through unique musical artistry.
The Delphian Jazz Orchestra is committed to giving opportunities to the myriad of struggling musicians coming from Delphi every year. We believe that the rich history of arts at Delphi, primarily through the influences of Apollo and the Muses, uniquely qualify the Delphians to take the reins of this musical and artistic revolution known as the Delphian Jazz Orchestra.
Through centuries of attacks, namely those of the Persians, Phocians, Gauls, Romans (that includes you, Constantine), and Thracians, Delphi has become a mere shell of Her once great past, and desperately in need of support. Finding aid for these dejected Delphians has proven difficult, but we are determined to persevere. Our mantra is to remain ever fixed on creating art that upholds the rich culture that was and shall be Delphi.
