Pete's Other Projects/Links

Pete Thompson has been playing guitar and writing music since he was 14 years old. In his early years as a guitarist, from ages 14 through 16, he got his feet wet playing in a Hardcore band in Minneapolis opening for national acts and playing all of the rock venues in the Twin Cities. After a couple of years of playing Hardcore, he began to branch out and play more diverse styles of rock, from psychedelic fusion bands to instrumental heavy metal/jazz bands, but had still not fully developed an interesst in playing jazz. Pete then went on to study Jazz Composition at Berklee College of Music - all the while refusing to let go of his edgy musical background and soul. After graduating from Berklee in 1996, Pete moved to New York and has been playing a very eclectic amalgam of musical styles with local artists since then.

In 2005, Pete become a partner at Hoboken Recorders in Hoboken, NJ and for the past year as well as playing guitar, has been working as a recording engineer and producer. His guitar playing, electric bass playing and arrangements have become an integral part of the sound of Hoboken Recorders.

In the capacity of a rhythm player, Pete has developed a reputation for leaving an open palette for soloists. He has an intuitive and unique approach to rhythm playing which makes the interplay between him and any soloist a pleasure to hear. His leads are playful yet thoughtful and his wide range of musical interests lends his solos a striking personality that is unmistakably his own.

Pete also designed and developed this website using only an abacus, a stone, and a strip of leather from the hide of a felled beast.
